LAC Project est un collectif artistique pluridisciplinaire fondé par le chorégraphe et musicien Mathieu Calmelet, et l’artiste plasticienne et chorégraphe Ludivine Large-Bessette qui défend un travail en collectif et se redéfinit à chaque projet par des collaborations nouvelles et approfondies avec des artistes, technicien.nes et chercheur.ses de différents horizons.
À la fois espace de collaboration artistique et structure de production, LAC Project défend une pratique très décloisonnée où danse contemporaine, musique, performance, arts visuels et art numérique apparaissent dans une porosité assumée. Ce travail volontairement hybride permet au collectif de mieux laisser transparaître leurs questionnements en associant différents médiums, pour traiter chaque projet : réalité augmentée pour interroger le fantasme sociétal d’un corps tout puissant, vidéo pour cerner l’importance du regard et des rapports de pouvoir dans les traditions classiques de représentation du corps, musique acoustique et électronique pour explorer de nouveaux modes relationnels entre le corps humain et notre environnement.
Les créations de LAC Project ont été notamment diffusées à la Nuit Blanche à Paris, au Carreau du Temple à Paris, aux Subs Lyon, au Manège Scène Nationale de Maubeuge, au Gymnase CDCN de Roubaix, aux Les Subs Lyon, au Festival Waterproof de Rennes, au Festival Artonov de Bruxelles, au Salon de Montrouge, au Festival Baléapop de Saint-Jean de Luz ou encore au Festival Et 20 l’Été à Paris.
LAC Project is a multidisciplinary artistic collective founded by choreographer and musician Mathieu Calmelet and visual artist and choreographer Ludivine Large-Bessette, who promote collective work and redefine themselves with each project through new and in-depth collaborations with artists, technicians, and researchers from different backgrounds.
Both an artistic collaboration space and a production structure, LAC Project advocates a highly open-ended practice where contemporary dance, music, performance, visual arts, and digital art appear in an assumed porosity. This deliberately hybrid approach allows the collective to better convey their questions by combining different media to address each project: augmented reality to question society's fantasy of an all-powerful body, video to identify the importance of the gaze and power relations in classical traditions of body representation, and acoustic and electronic music to explore new modes of relationship between the human body and our environment.
